Angela Alsobrooks, a lifelong Prince Georgian, made history in 2018 as the 8th County Executive for Prince George’s County and the first woman in the position. Committed to education, safe communities, and economic growth, her administration increased education funding, created the Office of Veterans Affairs, and maintained the County's Triple-A bond rating.
Facing the COVID-19 pandemic in her second year, Angela prioritized residents' well-being, distributing millions in grants, launching assistance programs, and providing over 1.2 million vaccines. Despite challenges, she secured a record $1.6 billion in State aid, initiated police reform, and allocated funds for a behavioral health facility.
A Duke University B.A. in Public Policy and University of Maryland School of Law J.D. graduate, Angela started as a Prince George’s County Assistant State’s Attorney in 1997. In 2010, she became the County’s youngest and first female State’s Attorney, focusing on public safety and achieving higher prosecution rates.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Adrienne Banfield Norris graduated Magna Cum Laude from Coppin State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Following a successful career in women's health, she can currently be seen hosting the Emmy award-winning show Red Table Talk on Facebook Watch alongside her daughter, Jada, and granddaughter, Willow.
She continues to dive into different conversations on her weekly podcast Positively Gam where she talks with a variety of guests about lifestyle topics, social justice, and aging. She has more than 560k followers on Instagram. Notably, Banfield Norris was recognized in Time Magazine 100 Most Influential People of 2021.
Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, Founder, President, and CEO of Global Policy Solutions, is a distinguished nonresident senior fellow at Brookings Metro. A leading expert in wealth, health, and education equity, Dr. Rockeymoore Cummings is also the author of the upcoming book "RAGEISM: Racism, Ageism, and the Quest for Liberation Policy" (Routledge).
As a prominent guest on major television and radio news outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and NPR, she has shared her insights on aging, Social Security, the social determinants of health, and racial wealth and achievement gaps. Dr. Rockeymoore Cummings has a rich background, having served in key roles such as Vice President for Programs and Research at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and as Chief of Staff for former Congressman Charles Rangel.
With a Ph.D. and M.A. in political science and a B.A. in political science and mass communication, Dr. Rockeymoore Cummings has been recognized for her outstanding contributions. She has chaired boards, served on numerous organizational boards, and received prestigious honors such as the Aspen Institute Henry Crown Fellow and the Woodrow Wilson Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow.
With over 25 years of experience as an Emmy award-winning television news journalist, Shawn Yancy stands as a seasoned professional in news gathering, writing, reporting, anchoring, hosting, public speaking, and public relations. Renowned for effective communications, she has demonstrated a proven track record in delivering strategic, creative results, including impactful branding and targeted marketing to specific audiences.
In both corporate and non-profit settings, Shawn Yancy showcases strong leadership skills, acting as a collaborator and adept relationship builder with the community, executives, and business partners across all levels. Beyond her professional endeavors, she is also the dedicated non-profit founder of Girls' Night Out and a skilled professional artist. As an event speaker, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to engage and inspire audiences.
LaTara Harris, a change catalyst with nearly 30 years of corporate and nonprofit experience, currently serves as the CEO & President of Crittenton Services of Greater Washington. With a celebrated tenure at AT&T, where she was the Director of External and Legislative Affairs, Harris demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She holds an undergraduate degree from Bowie State University and an MBA from the University of Maryland. During her time at AT&T, Harris launched initiatives such as AT&T Scholarships with HBCUs and Tech Centers nationwide, providing numerous internship and mentorship opportunities for youth.
A dedicated advocate for women in business, Harris founded We Empower Women Inc., a global organization empowering women to reach their full potential. Recognized as Maryland’s Top 100 Women in 2015, Harris is also a co-founder of Youth Leaders in Training, focusing on leadership development and volunteerism.
